I shot satin finish 2pak clear over the whole of my F100,to get the finish I wanted..then did the roof and scallops in gloss off white..Got the desired effect for an old work hack..It might work on the dash,as long as you dont use too much flatting base in the paint..I dont think you will want it too flat, just enough to take the gloss off..Micah 6:8

On your 68? Doesn't it have a padded dash, or isn't there repro's available? In either case, I would spray the metal with glossy clear.Robert

the dash was shot in lacquer from GM so there was never a super hi gloss so you may want to flatten it just a we bitIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

I'd go for flat or matt finish on the dash to cut down on glare."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

When I went to paint my dash on my 69 I had problems. I tried 5 times to paint it with a semi gloss. Kept getting fish eyes. Finally I tried a flat paint which worked great. Still looks fine after 7 years.

boy i have been there many time as a painter we use to wash the insides down with 330 or440 ppg prep before sanding and still get fish eyes .you need to wash it down with a poly cracker or strong soap to get the oils and armor all that get baked in. cars trucks that smoker have owned can be fun so its a mix of this stuff .any hot thinner paint that thinned with lacquer can be some times less chance of fish eyes .some times we had to strip it to bare steelIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

just finished it this morning! so i decided i would clear coat everything dash, cowl, fire wall with a slow reducer then for the last coat i flattend the clear and only srayed the top of the dash and it flowed nicely into the rest of the cowl and prevented me from painting the dash separate from the cowl and fire wall
