I wish you luck on getting done for another $600. IMHO you'll do good to get by for double that amount.

Roger: Thanks for the input on the cost, I'll just have to sell a few more quarts of my blood. Have a great weekend.

    Navy,
Using SPI as a reference point, their orange and red base go for $298 and change per gallon, or $96 and change for a quart. Reducers and catalysts add up pretty quick, too, and then there's all of the "other" stuff like abrasives, cleaners, polishing compounds, etc, etc. Seems like every time I'm walking out of the paint store I've left several portraits of Ben Franklin behind.

This thread is remaining reasonable on the subject (one of the benefits of a small audience I guess), but I'm still amazed when those who don't buy refinish products either regularly or at all seem shocked when you tell them it's easy to drop $1500 on up to the sky on ALL the materials required to do a good refinish. Abrasives (good ones anyway) are up there, as is a roll of good tape for that matter.

It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.

Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

Heck Bob I'm not really amazed at all, I used to buy a beer for .25 cents and now they cost $2.50. The only difference is, is that I drank beer for the last 40 years so I was aware of the inflation . Besides in this day and age nothing should amaze anybody, just look at DC antics.

I guess I was dreaming and it was 1975 and I was painting my 48 Chevy coupe, its only 39 years of inflation.

Oh well, a pint of blood regenerates within eight weeks, so you can schedule regular appointments with the vampire through the end of the year?
