gherkin, Dont even think for a minute that acrylic lacquer isnt very harmful, its some of the worst stuff , just because it doesnt have a hardner doesnt mean that its not as bad for you, Lacquer is HIGH in VOC's and its why its trying to be fazed out !!!
And if your clear is a lacquer that is good, if its an Acrylic enamel and you do this paint job , you will have a non repairable paint job , as if you want to lay down some more lacquer color down over that enamel clear it will turn to cottage cheese real quick and all your efforts will be for nothing !!!

The 1st Model "T" Fords were brush painted with laquer and rubbed out.............not so far fetched.
If your body work sucks like mine usually does, it won't make much difference.Home Handyman Forum

Good news everyone ITS ALL ACRYLIC LAQUER. So as soon as I get home....late next month....I will start the "rubbin and smoothin"....of course after the "rubbin and the smoothin" with the most important girl, but then the other stuff......."Those who know not and know not that they know not; are fools, AVOID THEM. Those who know not and know that they know not, are intelligent, EDUCATE THEM".
Thank you Roger. .
