Rattle can Daytona yellow available?
I'm looking for corvette daytona yellow, or something pretty close, in a rattle can. Anyone know where to get it? I checked napa, and the yellows were few and far between, and that wasn't listed in thier little book. If not I'll just have to have a quart mixed up I guess. Thanks.First On Race Day

Napa can custom mix any color in a rattle can for less than a quart would cost. If the color is in their paint chip book they can mix it in an aerosol can. They cost around $10 for a 12 oz. can." Im gone'

The napa by me dosn't mix paint. There is another parts store a little further away that can mix paint right from your chip, maybe I'll just do that. I'll have to take the cowl vent off or something.First On Race Day

My Napa store doesn't mix paint anymore either. They order it from the distribution center. I don't know if all the warehouses have the equipment to do aerosol cans but they can just pick up the phone and get it from another Napa distributor. You gotta go back and talk to the guy at Napa. All you need is the factory color code. They don't need a chip or sample part.
I looked up 69 Vette Daytona yellow and it had two factry codes. I think code 76 is the number you want but it's also code 984.
The Napa part number for this color in acrylic enamel is 30Y-3916. They use different factory codes for Daytona yellow on different years but the 30Y-3916 stayed the same." Im gone'

I got some custom mixed hugger orange in a rattle can from a local automotive paint specialty shop. I did the interior of my truck with it and it looks real nice. I have only color sanded a few small parts and will do the rest in the next few weeks. I wouldn't use the stuff on the exterior though, but I have reason not to.

most auto paint stores can mix the paint you want and put it in cans. I think the smallest amount is a pint. that will fill three rattle cansThe only dumb question is the one you don't ask..

Ok, today I had the parts store mix me up a quart, but he couldn't find daytona yellow in the book. I brought my cowl vent with me and we figured it was bright yellow, because it was about the same, and from the same time era. It is pretty darn close, but a little darker. Tomorow I'll go back and see if they can make it a little lighter. With my paint skills, who knows how it will come out anyway!Last edited by nickmobile67; 10-12-2004 at 03:32 PM.
