I was thinking of buying a gear drive for my small block Ford. Now you've put me off! Whats wrong with it other than the noise?
Do you still have the instructions? (I can't find a Pete Jackson web-site...)Last edited by tripower; 04-17-2005 at 04:17 AM.

i dont have the information on the gear drive, i had it in my motor for about a year but didn't put much on it..... its got a standard timing mark, 4 degree advance and 4 degree retard... uses the standard double gear idler.... straight cut gears performance wise, cause less friction, and dont slip, BUT they make a lot of noise, the noise tends to cause premature valve train wear, and can cause spark scatter, a relatively uncommon problem, but it does happen.... also the harmonics it puts out pretty much defeats most of the purpose of going for a full balance job done on your engine.... i really dont reccomend using the gear drive unless you know what you're getting into and just want the "cool" sound... which if it goes into a daily driver, gets very annoying very fast

It's not for a daily driver so I am happy to go with it.
Now I would need to ask if anybody has a copy of the instructions for fitment to a sbf or if Pete Jackson has a website? I can't find one!

I posted here earlier today but now it's dissapeared along with some of the other posts! Have you managed to come up with a shipping price to the UK yet? I am happy to use USPS surface at my risk if you are happy with that. Having read your engine damage post I guess that the last thing on your mind is dealing with me...
Did you get my off forum messages?

The $35.00 option is fine. Now I need to make contact with you to arrange payment! Looks like the direct e mail facility on this forum is not working?
Maybe you can mail me on: steve at schale.freeserve.co.uk ?
Change the at to @ ...no gaps.
Thanks for your help...
