1964 283 rebuilt for sale
Well here's the deal. Its a sbc 283 out of a 1964 chevelle. I bought it rebuilt from a friend of a friend, put about 2000 miles on it (was broken in properly)then swapped it into another car. Ran out of time on the new car, and I never got the mixture tuned. The guy that rebuilt it dont remember the cam specs. 305 heads on it. it was bored .030 over. weiand aluminum dual plane intake. Holley 570 street avenger carb. Will sell with or with out the carb.
As we all know the 283 sounds great, and is a scrappy motor. I hate to let it go, but like I said I have no time, and some debt to deal with. I'll let it go with the headers as well.
The other issue is that its stored at my parents place in Ladysmith WI. If you want any casting marks or other info I can get it.

hello, I have a 1959 Chevrolet Apache stepside truck with a 283, but needs rebuilt and I am considering all my options. First of all, how much do you want for the engine? My 283 is from 1958 (i think) and would need new heads to run with unleaded gas, along with the rest of it rebuilt. I do not need the carb necessarily, so how much would it be minus carb?
Thanks!

WEll I hate to see it go for less than 1500, but without the carb an' such I would let it go for 1000...
