I don't have much to offer except more questions. I have a 35 Ford that I want to register in California. I'm curious if any one can shed some light on the "process" required in this state and any pitfalls to watch for. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, Casey

Yes thats one way to do it.
However, with a title - being pre 1965 you need no smog, no CHP inspection etc.
I will get that info for ya.
Have been out here in the desert too long. I left it at home. Sorry I promise to bring it in. I printed out your e-mail and have put it on my dash so I won't forget the title info.
I had a state license in California to do vehicle verifications/titles ect. So I can help you with this. It's cake.

Titles
I bought my titles from "Street Rod'n", at (410)257-6522. He has superb titles that even come with signed Notary for authentication.
With this you can get anything you want from Kalifornia.
Also you may need to have the car "verified" by a state licensed vehicle verifyer. (I used to have my license also, no more).
You can usually find a name like that from a local club.
He can get you the signed form, verify your title, and all you do is take it to the DMV and they will issue you all the required docs for the state. Title, Registration etc.
If I thought it would be worth it. I'd move back to Cal and re-vive my license.
Hope this helps.
Also If you go to the DMV you can get a copy of the california vehicle code and look up what you want. The book looks big, but it's not that much info. If you have one of those and follow it, you will know more than the pin-heads at the dmv window who are helping you. Knowledge is in deed power !

I have seen companies that sell original titles probbably from scrapped vehicles and if they have one for your particular vehicle you can use one of those generic body number tags or see if repops of the original body tags are available and stamp in the numbers from the title you get. Another option is to buy a junk vehicle of the same year that has a title and change the body tags,as long as its the same year and model whos going to know if the tags been changed if its on a 30s or 40s vehicle.
Great to see your new post, Mike, and great to see CHR up and running again after several days of the Hmmm, can't reach this page.... Also good that you found an easy solution to your storage/access...
