Anybody need '56 Plymouth 277 poly engine, other parts?
I'm sub-framing a '56 Plymouth Belvedere, and have the 277 poly motor w/2spd auto, front suspension, brake master cyl. & booster, side trim, rear end, drive shaft, etc. for sale, cheap. Let me know if you can use any of it.No, if you were me, you'd do it just like I did.

The engine had good coolant in it, and I don't see any cracks in the block, the freeze plugs are all ok. Everything is on the motor, even the air cleaner. I tried to turn it over with a socket and a breaker bar, but couldn't. According to people who knew the car, it was running when parked (1972). That's about all I know about it.No, if you were me, you'd do it just like I did.

Did you try draining the oil(if it was stored that way)and pouring fresh oil through the engine a couple of times?
If it's been stored since '72 without being turned over sometimes all it takes to loosen the bearings is some fresh oil to coat.
You may also need to get a LOOONNNNGGG cheater bar to get more leverage on it. 3 foot or longer.
I've got a bone stock Flathead 6(don't yet know the size, sorry)in my Savoy. I'm looking at much the same motor and issues.Any dolt with a Torch and Welder can customize a car.
