Ran into a guy at a recent carshow that bought one off E-Bay to put in his '62 Impala SS convertible. It was a truck engine, paid $1400.00, but after being rebuilt and installed in his car it looked like a factory installation. He said they are out there, so I would start on E-Bay.

Not of much help but. I was over in IN. a few weeks ago. We went past a bodyshop that had a few hot rod type cars out side. So being the nosie type I stoped and talked with the owner he showed me around the shop he had several 55 56 57 chevys older Mercs more cars than I could mention. In ONE room he had steel shelves. ON those shelves he had at least 12 409s and 348s price SORRY I"M NOT SELLING THEM.He had many intakes 3x2 2x4 4 same thing no sale. I have no idea what he is planing to do with them but he would not even talk about selling them.

contact Southside Auto in Minneapolis,MN. They deal in 1964 chevy parts and they usually have a couple complete 409s on hand. they know what these engines are worth, but they ARE honest. They ship all over the country too. 612-727-2404. "Showcars" aka DR. 409 is another good source. they are in New Ulm, MN. and on line at DR.409.comLast edited by strodder1939; 07-13-2006 at 05:07 PM.

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
