Before you buy any parts, determine which style of cab that you have. It could be either a high or low cab. The 36 Chev high cab is similar to the 34 and 35 cabs (maybe even the same). The 36 Chev low cab is similar to the 37 and 38 cabs. Like Jeff said, there is a difference on the lower cowl panel. Some other differences are: the windshield openings are different, the 36 was straight across the top, where the 37/38 is slightly curved (the windshield frames don’t interchange); and the placement of the cab back window is different, the 36 window is about 1.75 inches lower (this was a quick measurement) than the 37/38 window (the glass is the same, though). This is applicable to Chev and GMC cabs from 36-38.
The 36(low cab)/37/38 doors are the same.
I replaced the door posts in our 36 with steel tubing and across the top of the cowl behind the dash. This was the only wood there was in our cab. A friend replaced his door post wood, using the door posts and dash support out of a 37 GMC cab, it fit perfectly.
Take an inventory of what parts you have, the condition and we’ll try to help you put it together.
Superior Glass Works in Oregon has fiberglass parts for 36 Chevy trucks. http://www.superiorglassworks.com
28-32 Ford pickup rear fenders look good on the 36 Chev pickup, with minimal rework, and they look like they belong there.
The pickup box is very similar up to early 47, you might only have to shorten it a little.
I wore a camouflage T-shirt once. The response in the pub was "Oooh, it's a floating head!" .
