WTB Studebaker Flathead 6 motor
here's the deal, my sister who lives north of Marysville/Yuba City,Ca has a 60 Studebaker Lark w/a dead 6 cylinder mtr & i would w/love to get it running for her. she has stored the car for the past 20yrs since it died and has talked about wanting to get it running again. so being the good brother i am, i figured if i could find a studey flathead for her cheap i would fly out there to visit her & swap the mtr in the Lark.
sooooooo, i'm looking for a running studey flathead 6 that'll fit in a 60 Studebaker BUT it has to be CHEAP or even FREE and somewhere near Sacramento, ooo hell i even drive a few hrs if i have too. yea i know i'm asking for alot, but hey i just know that someone out there is just itching to get rid of that studebaker flathead 6 they have stuff under thier workbench or in the corner.
the other thing is depending on my own schedule (our son maybe visiting) it may be anywhere from a month or 2 before i'm able to come out there and pick the mtr up.
soooooo whatsa got, i'm on a tight budget here so the cheaper the better.....thanks....joeDonate Blood,Plasma,Platelets & sign your DONORS CARD & SAVE a LIFE

Hey Joe, (Sounds like a Hendrix song...)
Give me a call (530)743-4176. I know a couple guys I think can help you out. And if you come out here, I bet we can get together and help you make the swap. Have cherry picker, will travel!
Gotta save those Studebakers!
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

In the traffic of the 21st century, I don't think your sister is going to be happy with an anemic little Champ 6. A SB Chevy or Ford will make the Lark a lark to drive, with parts available anywhere. Burn the points on a Studebaker two blocks from home and its towtruck time.

what ya don't understand is that my sister lives so far out in the country that a traffic jam is 3 cars & a RV. she lives 2 miles from where she works and has other vehicles to drive IF she has to go into the big city. when the Lark was running it did its job quite well and never failed them untill the mtr went south, and my sister was very happy to just have the Lark just the way it was.
there's no reason why it could keep up w/traffic today just like it did 20 plus years ago, hell my brother drove his bone stock(except the tires) 39 Dodge 100miles round trip to & from work for over a year & NEVER had a problem w/the car. there's this thing i call preventative maintenance where u check parts that will wear under normal conditions & replace them before a problem happens.
but hey like i said i'm on a tight buget here because I'm footing the bill if it's within my means. but i'll have to disagree on the availability of parts because i can get just about anything for that car at one of my own local auto parts store. i know i can get water pumps, ing stuff, brake parts, clutches and Gods knows what else. BUT if i was able to drop a SBC or any other kind of motor/tranny combo in it on my budget i would. but since all my sister would like for the old beast to do is run the way it did 20 yrs or so ago & it makes her happy then thats what we're going to do.
&&&&&&& who says those old dinosaur engines are dead yet, hell u'd be surprised what kinda speed parts u can still get for this old stuff if ya wanted it to go fastttttttt.......joeDonate Blood,Plasma,Platelets & sign your DONORS CARD & SAVE a LIFE
