    Ford backing plates hubs drums

    Hello,
I look for brake backing plates, hubs and drums for my front axle.
Drum size 10"x 2.5", bolt circle 4.5" Ford suitably for 37er to 41er Ford Spindles.
How can I experience, from which vehicles these parts would fit?
Is there in such a way which as after market in new?

Your English is better than my German, so don't apologize.

If you are using '37 to '48 spindles, the only drum brakes that will bolt on are the '40 to '48 hydraulic brakes, and these are 12 inch and have a 5.5 inch bolt pattern. You can have the drum redrilled to the 4.5 inch pattern.

I know of no 10 inch drum setup that would fit early ford spindles. However, you can get disc brake setups to fit and that would have the bolt pattern you are looking for.

What 10 inch brake setup are you thinking about, and what are you trying to do, exactly.

    Thanks Don
The permission regulations for taxreduced historical vehicles in Germany are very hard.
Therefore and would not like I can reequip not so easily on disc brakes.

I would like to insert a new I-Beam axle with '37 to '41 Spindles.
In addition I look for suitable brake backing plates and hubs.
At present I have the front wheels from the '61 to '63 E100 with 10"x 2.5" drums.

    Found I up to now:
F100 of brakes on 37 tons of 48 Fords spindles:

    Maybe there are more.

Yes, this is a very good swap and gets you better brakes. I have a set of these, and also modified spindles that I am saving for a future project, and it is very easy to do. The instructions you have on Jalopy Journal are accurate.

The early Ford brakes are not self energizing, but the Ford truck brakes are, so they do work better. But I think you will end up with 5.5 inch bolt pattern, but the drums can be redrilled for other patterns.

    Good luck,

    Don
