32 Ford grille shell "ornament" section
I need the top radiator cap piece of an original '32 Ford grille shell so that I can run the original ornament and radiator cap. Can anyone help me?

Sounds like what you need is the radiator filler.
See if Walker or US Radiator would sell you the filler by itself and solder it to the top of your radiator tank so you can screw your stock cap on.
Barring that you may have to have someone machine one up for you.C9

The way I'm reading it you're talking about making a filled shell stock again? If so, Brookville repops the stock configuration, so two choices. You can contact them and see if they've got some scrap ones that didn't get punched right, say at the lower end, but that the top is salvagable and can cut a "patch panel" for you, or buy one of their complete units and sell what you've got (more likely what they'd urge you to do).
Plan B; Bazillions of these have been cut out over the years, but most likely thrown away. However, car guys tend to be packrats so you might try runnin an ad in www.fordbarn.com and see if anyone has the portion of a shell you're looking for.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Yeah. I have a new filled repop that I have mounted on my chassis. I figured it may be cheaper to weld in a section than take a loss on this one, then buy the new stock style repop. I'll try your suggestions. Thanks for the reply Bob.
C9, I think I can bolt the cap to the shell but I didn't think I could work the shell to the shape of the ornament. I thought I would try finding a weld in piece before I chance hammering on this new one.Last edited by deuce4papa; 07-13-2006 at 11:26 AM.

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
