speed parts for 1962-70 Chevy ll 4-banger

Looking for some kind of dual carb intake and possibly a header for my 153 cube chevy ll 4-banger in my 27 T-touring. I am running a Mercury marine finned valve cover and side cover and the motor is 60 over with a shaved head. No screamer, just looking for something different to make it look a little cuter. . A t-tub with a top wasn't meant to do 70 anyway. Answer here on the board or PM me.

The Mercruiser 120HP..153 CID ..L4 is one tough little engine...I work with these in the stock form all the time....Seems I saw 4BBL ntakes and tubular headers in Cliffords book...Plus special camshafts etc.....Getting hard to find the American made blocks...The newer 3.1L or whatever it is just ain't the same...........
The cylinders have to be inline.!!!

My motor is an original 65 GM chevy ll. It is over 100 horse though. I know clifford has some pieces for these. Just wondering if there is any used stuff out there. I think they used these engines in midget cars at one time. I know some Jeep guys used them as well as they could be made to scream.

Try asking around the older sprint car racers...
That was a popular engine for the quarter midgets back in the late sixties. (That and sawing a small block in half)...
A lot of those guys probably have what you need laying under a workbench somewhere...
    Cute setup!

Thanks for the heads up about your company, but I am interested only in used speed or dress up equipment for the 153 cube 1962-70 chevy ll four banger.

Gerry, thanks for the info. I was hoping to find a 2 carb setup and maybe a header for the motor to dress it up. I am running a hood so if it doesn't happen, well that is ok too. I just wanted to dress it up like an early banger motor, T or A type. This motor came out of a 65 chevy van. 153 cubes.

Ive saw a boat with four side draft SU carbs from a datsun on a 153. You just need a machine shop to flame cut the carb plates and the block plate (using the gasket as a template) and have them welded together. Youd have a unique setup and would be able to run a hood and still see the carbs.

    'banger improvements

You could make some manifolds from 1/2" aluminum plate and bolt on a set of Weber 40mm DCOE sidedrafts. Looks cool, and VERY good fuel metering.

For engines "in the wind" like yours, I've always built my own headers. I have a mandrel-bending machine of my own, but if you don't, you can buy pre-made bends to weld up your own set.

from looking at your picture of the 4cyl, i thought i was the only one around with that set up. i got a 30 ford 5 window th350 ford 9" and the 4cyl. i bought the car as is and yet to have it on the road, soon...... hopefully.

question, how does yours run. i have figured with the weight/hp ratio the car should be somewhat quick. i saw the one post about running side draft webers, now that sounds interesting.... anyone else got the same set up.. i will post a picture once i figure this computer thing out... email me,jim
