If you are working on a 49 to 52 use 53-4 uprights to lower it an inch or so. The spindle boss is higher on the upright.

Yes, and I have been looking for stock 53-54 uprights on a few forums, and have not found anyone willing to sell.

    Anyone here got these?

    53/54 uprights are 1/2" lower than 49-52.
There are a few place that sell dropped units. Nationalchevyassoc.com, chevsofthe40s.com, and fatman all have them.

Check out the links page on 50chevy.com theres alot of useful stuff. Actually, check out the whole website. Its the best I've found yet for these cars. Tons of pictures too.
    Good luck.
Im tired of all this arguing...
Its not a hot rod, kustom, rat rod, lead sled, gasser, and its not a street machine....its my car.

I have heard the following inches of drop to be expected from using 53-54 spindles on the earlier models:

    .5
    1.0
    1.5
    2.0

I have NO confirmation on any numbers-Though I would like to have confirmation of this before I find a set of uprights.
