    Wanted Ford transmission.

    Preferably a T5.
I need a tranny for my 1963 260 Ford engine. The O/D tranny was shelled and I sold all that stuff. I would like to find a decent T5 or an early BW 4 speed that will bolt up to my bell housing. I do know what is required to bolt the T5 up.
    I have a big shaft toploader I don't need. It is from a 1968 428 Torino

I've been thinking along the same lines for the 289 in my '66 Mustang and from the info I've found a late 5.0 bell housing is the way to go.

isn't the 260 a 5 bolt bell housing and the late model Mustang a 6 bolt? would need a 5 bolt bell housing and a T-5 adapter...

HHmmmm, what do you want for the top loader transmission?

The 260 is a 5 bolt and I have the bell housing. The 2 bottom bolts line up on the T5. I actually have an SROD from a 77 Mustang I am using to mock up my motor mounts. I had to remove the front bearing retainer and whack off the input shaft a bit. There is also an adapter that is relatively simple to make, or buy.

I have $900 into that big toploader but haven't had any luck retrieving my investment, probably just leave it under the bench for anything less. I might be interested in a trade but I don't know what shipping that big chunk of pig iron would be like.

What kind of stuff are you looking for to trade for the TL?
