Looking for a suggestions for a pair of electric seats that will fit my coupe. Combined width must be less than 40 inches. Brown or grey leather preferred.

If you want them with a built in shoulder harness, seats from '05 thru present BMW 325 or 328 convertibles are a good size for these cars and the shoulder harness mechanism isn't big & obnoxious. Sometimes you can find them on craigslist or ebay at a fairly reasonable price. They have flat mounting tracks, which makes them easier to mount. Hope that helps some. I'm sure you'll get other suggestions, too

Old Fierro seats are really popular, not sure of the dementions, but they have built in spealers in the head rests and you can get leather reupholster kits for them that really look sharp.

Your 40" limit is the combined seat measurement, and not the maximum installed width, door panel to door panel, right? I have Fiero seats and you can see them in my build thread, Followed Me Home, '33 Build if you want, but they do not come with power actuators or integral seat belts. They measure 19.5" wide, and my total installed width is ~42" and that's snug. Headrest speakers were only in some of the later seats, but they can be added easily - mine had one with speakers and one without, someone had obviously swapped out one seat earlier - and I replaced/added them during the recovering process. Fiero seats are ideal for low profile situations - they sit very low to the floor, which I don't believe is a need in your '40.

What about seats from a newer GM Grand Am? I've been looking at putting a set of these in my 40 soon.

I know of a 37 ford with Riveria seats they are electric everything and fit nice

Unless your running a center console or something unique the base width for seats 35 thru 48 is 44" at the base of the seat bottom, and right around 47" at the top of the seat backs in both Fords and Chevys. Model A's pinch down pretty tight in front and 40" is all the room you have. I think your going to have a hard time finding a powered 20" wide seat. If you do find one please let us know what it is out of. Might want to double check the width and see if you can get 22" out of each side that will open up a lot more seats that are available. Be sure not to measure across on the floor, Then body widens quite a bit from the floor level to the seat height? What ever its worth.

I don't know if my 46 is much wider than your 40, but I don't think so. I used seats out of a 98 mark VIII, the out side holes match right up to the 46 seats so I just had to drill the inside holes
by the hump. You will have to build a riser as the mark seat slope
to the front some or sit level.

If you have a 2dr the back seat will fit right in, just lift the back off of the holder, take out the bottom, put the bottom in place from the Mark. You might have to bring the front of the seat up some, take a 2x4 and screw it to the board that is there. I let the 2x4 rest on the tunnel hump and just leveled it from that. Then just hang the mark seat right on to the holders for the 40 back they fit right on, change nothing. When I got mine I got all the seat belts, the bolts, all the hardware for the belts and put them in also. Front and back.

The seats are electric every way, plus heated.

33Ford

I have a set of power/heated buckets from an 03 Durango that I'm putting in my 04 Dakota. At the widest part of the bottom seat cushion they measure just a tad over 20" and right at 38" high, but they are sitting on the floor in one of my spare bedrooms. If memory serves me right the 40 has a flat floor so the seat tracks would have to be changed or tweaked.

I have a 40 sedan that i've had for several years(never going to have time/shop to build) but it has a set of seats from a mid 80's Riviera. They fit nicely in there, and as I remember, are quite comfy.

I second the BMW 3-series seats. I have a set of M3 seats in a'32 Chev. It's snug, but workable. I can also recommend late Mini seats. They're right at 20" and very comfortable. They even have heat.
