I not looking for any one thing, mostly old performance stuff just to add to my collection.
That 36hp looks like a good old barn find, does it still turn over? If it does I bet it would still run.

Hi Casey,
Yes, almost a barn find. It still turns but when I got it the plugs were out. It looks like the mice had moved in.
A couple of my buddies where tearing down a shed for a lady and it was in it. They also brought a couple of buckets of VW goodies knowing I still mess with them.
No "Hot Rod" VW parts for the 36hp.
What are you building?
A few years ago I got a call asking if I wanted to look at a old garage that was going to be torn down. I met the guy and we opened the place, it had greasy wooden floors and a pit that looked mighty dangerous to work in but up stairs on the dusty shelves were boxes of NOS parts from old Fords and English cars and over in the dark corner there were boxes of VW stuff. In the office I got a bunch of shop manuals including 5-'50's VW factory repair and parts books. The garage started in 1952 and closed its doors in 1978 , I got the call in 1990 . The owner asked if I wanted to clean it out for the "junk".
2 truck loads of "gold". I sold a lot on ebay kept the goodies that turned my crank.
My best score was a NOS Wolfsburg crest and the little plate that the crest sits on. It sits on my '57 bug now.

I am looking for stuff like old Denzel heads or Okraska parts, I would love to find a roller crank for a 36hp. I am building a 36HP for a old fiberglass dune buggy I have, just a cool old motor nothing fast.

Casey ,
I guess you know about TheSamba.com they have a pretty good classified section
most of the sellers know what the parts are worth.
Good luck with the search

A neighbor had a dune buggy that he got a rebuilt 1600 with the dual port heads all redone, then he wrecked the buggy and the engine sat in his garage for years. I ended up with it, it won't turn over, will need to be torn down, but lots of good pieces there. Anybody want it? Real cheap.........Maybe just a "come and get it".....?
