Last Try
Still haven't been able to locate a reasonable early steel body. I haven't given up hope, but realize that it may take more drastic measures to take delivery on such a beast.
I still would like to find a decent early ford, chevy, or dodge coupe or sedan body (pre 1936) for around $1K or less. Cash, or I can also work a full or partial trade on my Honda silverwing. I'm still young and in the early part of my "career", so money does become an issue.
Now, being more drastic: If there is a coupe or sedan out there that is at a similar value, I would be willing to trade my 1957 Oldsmobile 98. The car has 80K orginal miles on it. It is a bonified street sleeper. The straight body is covered in the orginal color paint, amethyst and off-white. Has nearly all options: power windows, power antenna, power seats, power steering, power brakes, autotronic eye, etc, etc. Just no A/C. It is a 4 Door. Has the original interior.
Under this unsuspecting facade is a Fresh 1969 Olds 455 Rocket engine. It has been punched out to 461ci. Speed Pro pistons and rings, Edelbrock performer intake, edelbrock cam, edelbrock lifters, crane rockers, melling high volume oil pump. Crank was ground, had the heads resurfaced with a 3-angle valve job (C HEADS!), new valve springs, melling pushrods, Has a Holley Street Avenger 770cfm double pumper carb. Chrome valve covers, and air cleaner, The engine is Olds gold in color. about 60 miles total on the new engine.
Battery was relocated to the trunk, it has glass fender skirts for the rear. Steel wheels with the orginal chrome hubcaps, TH400 automatic tranny with a B&M shift kit installed. Has bias ply whitwalls with 97% tread left.
Car is probably worth in the range of $9500-11000. If someone has what I'm looking for and is interested in this car, email me for questions or pictures. Please also email me if you have a body for sale outright, like I was talking about above. I'm in Columbus, OH.
Thanks.

South of dayton on rt 4 is a 28 ish buick or something 2 door for sale, but since there is other old cars in the drive way it probably wont be cheap. Since you are in columbus take a trip down 71 south to rt 56 and head south towards mt sterling and there is a junkyard about 3 miles off of 71 that has a bunch of older cars in it. There were a couple of late 20s mopar 4 doors and a 25 dodge coupe in there plus others. The next time I am near that buick or what ever it is I will get their number. Jeff

thanks
Thanks guys, ND and MN are a bit to far from me to deal with. Nice looking tin though.
Jeff- I went out to that junkyard last spring. All of the bodies that he had were completely shot. Definately not worth salvaging. Just way too far gone, nothing even semi-solid among the bunch. Let me know about the details on that buick if you find out more info.

Not a problem Johnny, the one in ND the guy needs to clear out the cars, the state is on his back about the "eye sore" Damn liberals, thinking history is an eye sore.
Just wanna get the links out there for all you guys looking for a new project, these are some very nice guys to work with and like I said some very nice cars to work with too. Ecspecially for the price.1949 Plymouth Club Coupe Still in pieces.

When you were at that yard did you go behind the house that is north of the shop building, behind it in the trees was two or three late 20s mopar bodies and frames and other old cars. Those late 20s mopars did not look too bad when I was last there but I did not pay too close attention to them and if one could find the rest there is a 35 ish dodge hump back panel truck body that was used for storage but like most cars there they have been there too long. searched the place high and low, every nook and cranny. Wasn't a stone left unturned, even found the homemade C-cab in the barn. Nothing salvageable... unless you wanted to refabricate every single pannel. The search is getting tiring.
