48 Parts?
Does anyone know where I can find a lot of parts for 1948 Chevy Coupes or Fleetlines (whatever way you wanna call em)? I just bought a 48 chevy Coupe today (picking it up in the mourning finally) and There is a ton of things it needs. I need to find the floors which I might see if bitchin products has it but need some bolts, window trim and a ton of other parts and odds and ends.
Any info is greatly appreciated. I found some parts for 47's and 49 but no parts for a 48.
Thanks in advance.www.streamlineautocare.com

I said b4, www.chevsofthe40s.com has everything. '47 is much alike to the '48. if it is a fastback body style then it's a fleetline and a regular type, it's a styline and as it is a coupe. I finally bought a daily driver car, a 1967 Ford Falcon Futura 4dr, it's getting delivered to me sunday by the guy I got it from for free. He has a '52 Chevy that I may be able to get misc parts off for my '51 cause there the same other than hood ornaments and I took a lot of time restoring my ornaments. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Thanks Matt, I forgot about that site. That's sweet you are getting a free car man. I am glad that I am FINALLY getting one too. I have been looking at so many and none turn out to be right or nothing and now I got one. I can't wait to pick it up in the mourning. I am supposed to go either in the mourning or early afternoon. As soon as I got it here I will take pictures and post them up on here. There will be something that I will need help identifying on the car too so that is another reason I need the pics is to see if you guy's can help. What it is is a rear end, the guy is not sure if it's the original but looks to be from a 55 chevy and he said he has had a lot of people tell him the exact same thing so I need to find out because it is what I have to use for now until I can get a Ford 9inch or something. Oh about those seats I was telling you about, this one comes with nice bucket seats, no head rest but also in my autotech class they are throwing a bunch away and I got two of them for free so I don't need seats anymore.
Well I am going to search around the site, I appreciate the help man.www.streamlineautocare.com

I don't know as I got a car for free, I paid $ 500 for the Falcon and he told me about this '52 Chevy he had and was saying on if they were the same body car other than a years diffrence, a lot of trim peices are interchangeable but, I need solid parking light horshoes for the grille, mine are rotted through on the corners and unrepairable and new is $250 a pair. I doubt my mom would let me get the whole car but it would be nice to rod with a 350/ 350 combo cause it's a 2dr but we have too many cars. Hopes I can get the grille and a few other parts for cheap or free ( doubt it though )You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Yeah man I hear you. This chevsofthe40s.com site is a pain to find stuff. lol I search for 48 parts and all these 53 parts and all come up and the taillights aren't even the right ones or none look like the originals or nothing. I have been searching for other sites but no luck. I need to find some body to frame mounts and things like that to get the body on the frame and set everything and make sure I got everything because basically all I got on the car is seats, fenders, body, grill, frame and glass and nothing else is there... well dash is but no tachs or wiring or NOTHING. I basically got to start from scratch and get ALL new bolts for EVERYTHING. That is going to be the only hard thing. I think that is the reason this guy is selling the car because of how much of a pain in the ass it will be to get all the blots and mounts and everything to even get the thing together. Just the front itself is going to be a pain to find which bolt goes to what.
Oh one more question. Ball joints. The front end needs all new ball joints, any ideas on a good brand or anything and where I can get good bushings as well?www.streamlineautocare.com

I looked for others when searching for others but chevsofthe40s is all I found and brickman led me to that site. Body mounts and bolts and ball joints should be available at a local autoparts store. You should get a painless kit for wiring. Just search the site carefully or order the book for the 4 bucks, parts you need are in there, I needed the parking light horseoes and was panicking because I coulden't find them in grille parts section but after a few days, I found them in the parking lights section. Parts are there. I looked and floorpans are in sheetmetal not in floorboards and related. also the taillights are original style, someone may have chaanged the taillights on your car and that's why your thinking diffrent or they may not be true OEM style. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Thanks Matt, I will check that wiring out. Yeah the taillights aren't on there... well I don't see them yet at least, I know what they look like because they aren't on the car but the shape is different than those. It's a pretty stretched out oval but I may just cover those holes up and make up my own kind of smaller tailights with LED's and make it have a cleaner look. I don't plan on doing nothing with the interior anytime soon, I need to get the floors and all the frame and floor and wiring done and brakes and start trying to at least get the car road worthy and then work my way from there. I am the type of person that likes to plan WAY ahead but I find that to be a pain sometimes and I get too far over my head so I am taking it real easy on this one and going to read up a ton on some things and search around a lot for good deals and try to build this car up without spending thousands of dollars. About 6000 bucks I can get this thing pretty damn nice but that's if I do everything myself which I am going to try and do. Only part will be hard for me to do is the painting I need to practice more of that in collision and auto body and get more info on it.www.streamlineautocare.com

FMX, someones probably cut and started to redo the taillights for the teardrop fords ( '39 I think ). Weld up those and recut the exzact holes but at an angled look across the car like this / \ ( slashes being lights ) and a little more angled but not too much and use LED Ford teardrop taillights and it'll look trick. Search on google for teardrop ford taillights and there are a few suppliers offering standard, LED and a blue dot option. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Thanks Matt. I will check that out man. I definetely wan't LED's and new taillights because today I got the car and all the parts at my house and I don't have any bolts, screws, lights, ect. I found one little Caddy light, the pointed ones but it's a really tiny one that looks like little license plate lights but in red, it's cool as hell and really tiny, I wish I could use those for taillights but too small. I need to do a ton of searching on finding where I can get all new bolts and then frame to body mounts, etc. I am working on the chassis right now, got it all primered and everything, started putting the rear end on it but the back of the rear leaf springs don't connect to what's on the frame, I think there is supposed to be another plate or something because both adapters are the same. It's going to be such a pain to get all the new hardware (bolts, etc) but after it's over with the rest isn't so bad until I get to the painting and sanding part.www.streamlineautocare.com

Nah I need parts not a whole car. How much do you wan't for the car though? I don't have money for an entire car (wish I did). I might sell my dirt bike though to get more money so I can do some more to my car but I will only have like 4000 and that isn't much at all.... Get me some more info on your car I would like to see it for the hell of it...www.streamlineautocare.com
