      Dear Viking,
I,ve just looked at all of your photos, and I must write you a letter of sincere admiration. I am a graphic designer in Chicago. I have a lot of experience and knowledge of art. The reason I mention this is because your drag racing photos are extraordinary! These are amongst THE BEST auto/racing photos I have ever seen. No bullshi- What is the deal here? Your other photos are as mediocre as any snapshots in a drug store, and then the drag racing photos approach the level of museum quality art. Was it the nitro-methane fumes? Are you bu any chance familiar with the American painter Edward Hopper c. 1882-1967?
A few technical questions: What kind of camera amd film format did you use? Did you use a filter to saturate the colors, or did you do color editing in photoshop afterwards. What kind of film? ASA speed and processing did you use? Are you a professional artist or photographer? These drag racing photos are excellent, and I'll tell you why. The composition, framing, lighting, and color saturation/exposure are great; better than anything in Super Chevy, Popular Hotrodding, or any of the other publications, etc. I have worked in advertising and design for over 20 years, and wish I had images of this quality to work with on a regular basis. I have had to use some real crummy photos through the years. Believe me I have.
Anyway, I am also a shameless hydrocarbon burning gearhead like anyone else in clubhotrod. The reason I go to this website is to see what other average car nuts are doing as well. I am presently restoring a 1989 Chevy 9C1 Police Caprice. It's a pretty decent car, but I don't have the money or resources to build a 69 Z-28, or a big block 70 SS Chevelle like the folks in the glossy magazines. There is a real world out here too. Also, where is the drag strip you took these photos at? It looks like and old school drag strip like the old US 30 in Oswego, Illinois, or the Union Grove Drag strip in Wisconsin. Something local and more blue collar than the modern high-tech facilities like Route 66 in Joliet. Have you sold any of these images? Are they digital prints, or archival dye transfer process?
Anyway, keep up the good work. The favor of your reply is requested.
Sincerely, JohnChicago. My e-mail address is JohnCrossDesign@comcast.net Thank you.
