Shoebox Volvo
I'm taking a 66 volvo 122 and making it look like a 49 ford. I feel
they share some common lines and with the right mods the 122
would make a great lil grocery getter. Using a B23F motor with
minor build,mating to a getrag 4 speed.Pulled a disc rear out of
a 740 turbo. I'm chopping the roof 2 inches. Will be leaving the
car black and either blend in paint after chop or just go with
black primer. I have been picking up little odds and ends I feel
will fit this lil art project,no new parts will be used (except drive
line) I have found that the things I have aquired clean up pretty
nice and seem to fit more with the age of the car. It's alil here a
lil there and I'll throw up progress pix in gallery from time to time
glad I found this site.

Yeah! Don't forget to repost. I am interested in how this turns out becuase I always thought this idea has merit. I'v always wondered how to handle the front end as it has the 60's look. And your choice of tires and wheels will obviously effect the affect.Kid Dearborn

corvair project update
Well, the powertrain is in place, though not all brackets and gussets are in place yet.
The car sits on all four again, though I need to figure out some proper-sized springs for the rear.
Am working on the fuel system, and have master cylinder and miisc stuff for brakes.
Still aven't updated my web page, but will soon,

Thanks-
Yes, that's the 3800.
(Buick 3.8, 231, or whatever)
I got the Olds cheeep, and it ran and drove. (trans front seal was out, but motor sounded good, and I ran it up the street to test.)
(didn't matter- I probably would have taken it even if it didn't run- what do I expect for $75.00?)
oh, well- more later!

If that car's 90% finished, I have a bridge I'm willing to sell, and it's 100% finished . . .
We all know that "Taurus" translates into "bull," don't we?Jack

"Taunus" <> "Taurus"
All kinds of strange stuff was built in Europe.
The Taunuses I saw (early 70's were front-wheel-drive V4s.
It could be a cool project, but it has a ways to go...
Looks like a good $1000 basket, at most!

It reminds me vaguely of a Willys Aero. It looks kind of kool in an odd sort of way. I agree with Jack though on the percent done. Only someone who's never finished a car would believe that. Could be that's why these guys are bailing on it. They finally realized just how much is really left to do. As much as I admire the concept, you'd really have to love a car like this because you won't find many people that would stand in line to buy it when you finally want/need to get out of it.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

well said ojai rick we don't all have a million bucks for our passion
but probably appreciate what we have as much or more because it's built with blood, sweat and tears. i'd much rather live with the little imperfections and say i built it in my garage with my brother
than say look at my $100,00.00 rod that boyd built for me.ps. my ride is as safe as any vehicle on the road !
