Ratsalad: You actually make some good points. The rat rod forum was set up for you guys to exchange info, and maybe we have been intruding on that turf. The reason is that any post that is made on any forum ends up in the general forum and we get to see it too, so we participate.
You are right in that respect. Maybe what we guys on the other side of the fence on this subject need to do is just ignore any posts about this particular subject and let you guys discuss it among yourselves.
I can see your point. It would make me a little angry too, I guess if this were happening to me.

I guess I don't understand the ''them against us'' attitude. Why can't we just exchange ideas........use the good ideas and let the rest slide without personal attacks. Believe it or not there a forums out there where people respect each other.

Hey before everybody gets there panties in a wad again i think theres some issues that need to be discussed , first off this it is no secret that this forum has always been, for the most part anti rat rod, and for good reason, also it might not be apparent ,but it took alot of work to get the moderators to even consider making a spot for us on here, i like to think that me and a few others like don, even though he claims hes not a rat rodder, i think deep down inside he is, but through alot of explaining, and alot of discussion, we made some progress here, then it never fails whenever a new ratter joins it turns into a huge mess, usually buy somone making a statment like barely legal to start things off, that does nothing to convince theses guys that not all rat rods are junk, yes i know some of these guys are oppinionated, but you also got to see that alot of them have been in this game for 40-50 years, what we as young guys dont see is they have and still do fight for our right to build these cars at the goverment level and they dont need us messing up 30 years of progress, im sure guys like techinspector have witnessed many young guys die cause of shitty building practices, just listen some time, you might learn alot, then go out and build a bad assed, balls to the wall, in your face hot rod from hell, but do it safe, so we all can keep building them, when i first joined i to was arrogant and butted heads, but you know what in the year ive been a member ive learned more than i could have imagined, ive posted a few pics and have not had anybody degrade my car, once bob made a comment about my firewall looking substandard, you know what he was right, i pondered on it for a couple of weeks, then fixed it, they know what there talking about, just a thought

Hotroddaddy makes some very good points, and yeah, I think I am a rat rodder at heart. I like basic, sometimes unpainted rods like the ones I remember from my youth. I couldn't afford them then (probably still can't ) but am reliving my younger days through hot rods.
I have learned a lot on here too.

im not going to build a rat rod that doesn't stop, or one that will eat babbies or anything like that... i just like how rat rods look very basic and looks like they shouldn't be street legal or dont have enough parts to be running properly. this is a style of car guys, your styles might be more up keep, require your cars to be in climate control, but that aint me sorry. do you think i would really get in something i though would malfunction? risking my life? im not really slapping a rat rod togather, im going for the grungey look where it looks slapped togather. if somethings not working properly, like lets say brakes, i would find a way to fix it with out puttin you know, brand new jaguar irs in the car and buying some brembo caliper brakes and 10 grand boyd wheels.Last edited by noissesboyobyal; 10-24-2006 at 11:10 AM.

I hear what your saying, you like the style, you see my car(in the pic above)its definetly not shiny , a little tip, these guys can be touchy if you need some help ask specific questions, ie drivetrain , suspention, etc, don is doing a really good thread, check it out, i see your into the 20`s-30`s rods(arent we all)start by looking for a cheap body or whole car, then you can go from there, these guys will help you set it up, try to get in touch with the rumblers up there they might help you out, roger miret is the prez, from what my wife tells me ny has some wicked laws, check them out to, i know upstate has a ton of cars hiding every where, find a car to start and we will help from thereLast edited by hotroddaddy; 10-25-2006 at 06:32 PM.

They have some strick insp. laws in PA., alot of the so called rat rods would not make it on the road, but I do like the look of some of them. Getting parts together for my 37 Dodge Canopy Express, slant six, 35 Dodge front axle with 1/4 elipcal springs, cycle fenders, chop and channeled and all the rest of the goodies.

Build your rats, i don't think most people here really give a hoot what anybody else builds.... Safety and proper construction techniques has always been a big concern at CHR, and many of us here did in fact survive the years of the general public and every cop in the world targeting us for the actions of a few....
I wish I had 10k to throw into a set of Boyd wheels, but I guess I'll have to settle for my new Cobra R wheels and I could sure use a Jag IRS. Don't need any Brembo's, my Wilwood's stop just fine...
As long as your car steers, stops, and handles safely I could care less what it looks like. No problem sharing the road with rat rods here.... I don't really care if you're driving a rat or a $200K pro built car, if you go around intentionally trying to present a bad image of hot rodding that the rest of us have to pay the consequences for, us mainstream hot rodders are gonna do whatever we have to do to get you the heck off the road and out of site until a touch of maturity and common sense makes you behave.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Dave, If you dont have anything positive to contribute to this rat section, then why do you feel the need to post here? It would probably piss me off to if I had all that high $$ crap in my car and the people walk right past it to check out the cool rat. You act like making a car stop is some kind of magical acomplishment that only shiney paint and willwood brakes can achieve. Im shure in your minde, a touch of maturity and common sense only happens when you are well in to your sixties.Last edited by BatOuttaHell; 10-25-2006 at 07:41 AM.

I didn't realize that we had a "Rat Rod" section........................Oh, Gawd...what are we coming to?
I will have to rethink my membership here................BTW, I agree with Dave. Also, Mr 2 posts.........You need a few more posts before you start being critical of one of our senior members.Last edited by poncho62; 10-25-2006 at 07:42 AM.
