The cab is mounted! No more 2x4's holding it up. MOCK UP PIC!
I finally got the front and rear cab mounts sorted out on my '52 F-1. I also decided (got talked into by the DMV) to use fenders. That is why the truck is now a '52 instead of '50, I got a front clip off a '52. No big deal really, but the front cab mounts had to "bridge" over the shackle hanger, so it was the first part I had to fab from scratch. The rear actually turned out like I figured it would, I flipped the cab mounts upside down so the arms bent down to the cab instead of up to the cab and bolted it right back on. Dumb luck. The bracket has one odd hole because it was already there when I got the steel. The guy at our machine shop gave it to me so I wasn't complaining. It is metric angle, but it measures almost 3/8th thick! That oughtta hold.

Man, you've been working hard. Starting to shape up good.
As for the fenders, I thought Pennsylvania had dropped that dumb fender and hood law?

Sorta. You have to register as a streetrod (1948 older) and then take the truck to a specific shop to be inspected. I don't feel like the hassle. Actually once I sat the fender along to see what it looks like I was glad I did. It looks really cool. The fender is about 1 1/2 inch off the ground in the back. I am going to cut them off anyway so they will end up with a little clearance.

PS: I wondered about that Pennsylvania fender law thing. Governments do such dumb things........what does it matter if a car is pre-49 or not as far as having fenders? I guess they didn't want to give in all the way. When I lived there the vehicle laws were extremely restrictive, you literally could not do anything to a car and stay legal........no lowering, raising, engine mods, etc. I guess the hot rod community petitioned them and got some things changed. That is good.

There are lots of "Laws" but do they inforce them? Here in Ca there has been a fender law since Jan 1 1971. Any car registered prior to 71 (no matter what year auto) so long as it is under 1500 lbs (what car is under 1500 lbs???) it doesn't need fenders. But there are THOUSANDS of cars including my brothers roadster with no fenders that NEVER get stopped for it. So the law may be there but they are at least realisitic about inforcing it.

Yup, 52's look good when you can drop it down to less than 5" from the ground. Mine is about 5" off the ground.
