Post 95 Ford Explorers also have a full frame with torsion bar independent front suspension, 4 wheel disk brakes and a track measurment which is very close to what you are looking for. They are strong, can be lowered substantially and are available with a V8. The two wheel drive version is probably best suited for your use.

what about a mid 90's ford crown vic frame/ grand marquise frame, they are sort of a uniframe designe. they have unibody support as well as a perimiter frame that most of the suspension is attached to. somthing like this could graft into the Volvo, for extra support. not to mention, they have 4.6 V8's, and strong rear axles, disc brake rears. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Thats good too, i'll note these down so i can get some measurements at the junkyard this weekend. Keep em coming if you guys think of anything else.
On a side note I decided to put the car up on jackstands at lunchtime today. Well, apparently the family of wasps living in it didn't care for that too much. Daddy wasp chased me clear down the drive way while i was spraying starting fluid at it. My dog hid in his dog house. My wife told me I hit a new low at wal-mart tonight. I've brought home junk cars before but never have i had to add this to my toolbox.

Then my buddy zeus and I decided to go inside as things heated up. One in the trunk, one in the interior, and one under the hood. Dear lord I hope that kills them.

Cool projekt! There is many Volvo Pv's (p544) with csb in sweden that has orginal frame. Its quite strong since its built in the body itself. But many peoples reinforce the stock body with a pipe frame and uses Volvo 140 front suspension. and volvo 1031 rear axel.
Here is one Pv from Sweden. It has a cbb 615" that gives over 1000hp and does the 1/4 in 7,77sec.

And here is another Pv. It has a carbon fiber body and got a B21= 2,1 litres twinturbo engine that produces about 650hp in the movie. Nowdays it gives around 900hp.

No problem!
Here is two more movies of the first Pv in my previous post.
First a movie made by "Sundis" Which is the producer of all Birka Cup movies.
Birka cup is Swedens biggest street racing cup and is hold on the motorway between Stockholm and Uppsala. The cup is driven on the streets as a protest for all the closing of the dragstrips in the area.

The other movie is also a protest movie and is filmed on "Kingsstreet" the main street in Swedens capital Stockholm.

For more movies search on youtube for Birka Cup or Sundis. Some movies contain hotrods.
@joehalford01: If you want, I'll try to find some articles of V8 Pv's from Sweden.Nothing beat cubic inches...

Here's some stats on the S-10 frame:
3 wheelbases 108", 117", 122". Track (wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface) is 56" front and 55 rear. Frame is 32" wide at the front and 34" wide at the rear. Frame is 3" wide and between 3" and 5" high at key stress points. Frame is boxed from the front to midway of the length, that would put it at just behind the door. Comes stock with power steering, power disc brakes, IFS, newer ones come with 4 wheel disc brakes.
Just some info to help you make a better decision.52 Ford F-1, 327 Chevy, S-10 frame

kool, I jotted down the info in my build book for future reference. Unfortunetly, this project may have to wait, I have a tendency to get ahead of myself when I get excited. I need to put some money into my 63 truck right now as it's my daily and I'm trying to get into the chp so I may need it running really well for some serious driving to sacramento. Besides, if i get into the chp then my project will sit half-done for who knows how long. So i think i'm going to put a car cover over it for know and work on my truck. Don't worry though, i've got plenty of questions to ask as far as my truck goes.

I put a Volvo 264GLE on an s10 frame about ten years ago. The s10 was perfect for my project. I completed my project in about three weeks. I was very happy with the s10 suspension and drivetrain. It was very solid and very serviceable.Go ahead and tell me what you think, just don't expect me to change my mind.
Thank you Roger. .
