cheap rats
I was just showing what you can build for a few bucks. I couldn't get the pic of my 30 chevy to load. I do all the work myself in a small garage with very little equiptment. I built the frame and most of the body for the 30 chevy. I'll try to download another pic of the 30 chevy.

Hay man I only live about 30 miles from you! I live near Meadville and have been looking for a 30's or 40's truck to build a rat. Do you know any where I can find one for cheep?
I'm on a very tight buget!

Not knocking anyone's builds, but I have seen some of those cheap builds, they bought a couple used tires, some bolts, and hoses,............. they already had an old ford (32) laying around that some uncle gave em, and about $8000.00 worth of other parts hanging on the garage wall doing nothing. So the next thing ya know they got a 32 5 window built on the cheap for $1200.00. ................ I'm with you, even with all my wheeling and dealing I've got about $6000.00 in the first one, and have already spent over $4000.00 on the one I'm building.............. I figured I had over $300.00 worth of mig wire alone in the first. Oh well more power to you if you can pull it off. Some guys really can manage to find the stuff, the rest of us buy it.......

I started with a $650 1948 International pickup truck using the frame, cab, hood and front grille. Chopped it 3" and channeled it 6" after cutting 6" off bottom of cab first. Added a 1988 Camaro I had less than $500 invested in using the rear end, rear suspension, drive shaft, transmission, steering column, shifter, seats, steering wheel and more out of it. bought a freshly rebuilt 283 chevy engine for $700 and still have the 350 out of the camaro to sell or use on another project. Got hundreds in nuts, bolts, welding supplies, steel, etc. plus new gas tank ,new dropped front axle and suspension assembly from Speedway Motors, new gauges, paint and body work material. Originally had it budgeted at $6000 but would have came in at closer to $8000 but then we decided to add air conditioning and full upholstery because we are going on the Hot Rod Magazine Power Cruise in June from Cocoa Beach, FL to Detroit, MI so now I am sure we are at $10,000. but that is for everything rebuilt as new or new so totally safe and still much more fun to own and drive than the new 37 Ford Oze Rod fiberglass car I built last year with over $50,000 in it. 10 months build time. Next is a 1950 Ford Truck Rat Rod which won't be painted or upholstered and into it for only $300 for frame and cab right now. that will be an under $5000 project.
