Hey there TriFive, we are in the same boat. I am looking for a shop that can do mine, also a 57' with Camaro clip, some tell me to do it myself, while others are telling me to get a MII or Heits front end and save my self some sheet metal hassles. If I change my mind and go the after market clip I will have a 74 RS Camaro clip for sale.
I like you am in Central Calif, not far from you Modesto

Check out: http://www.artmorrison.com/ While there have been many Camaro subs successfully installed, I would recommend a "factory kit". Also, if you have any ideas about eventually doing the back half, you could end up with a cobbled mess. I bought my 55 with a factory front & back half installed (cobbled mess). For a few bucks more, you can get a full frame replacement with any configuration you want. The 55 is now sitting on a custom built 2 X 6 frame with a 4-bar setup & air-ride... this is the way it should have been done to start with & costs lots less in aggravation. Don

If your frame is straight, and basically undamaged, any one of the latest crop of aftermarket kits is a better choice than a Camaro sub. The kits can cost less, to much more, depending on the level of show you want, but are engineered very well, and fit. There are even a couple that bolt in, instead of needing to be welded. It is much easier to use one of these, than to cut, true, fit, box, adjust, level, narrow, gusset, re-bracket, etc - the list is almost endless. That is why there is hardly anybody doing clips, anymore. Just my not-so-humble opinion.

I have done camaro clips, volares, and now I’m installing a Mustang II for a friend. The guys are right it is a lot less work. But if you really want to do the camaro No Limit Engineering sells a video of how to do it and re-attach your sheet metal. I believe the tape is 34.95 and it is well worth the investment. I like the way the GM clips ride, but out of all the GM clips I installed I like the Monte Carlo a little better. It fits better. But your camaro clip should be fine. You will like it if it’s done right; it’s the hardest clip to install correctly in my opinion. Just remember to measure 20 times, take a break and measure again then cut

Camaro front clip!
Hi all you Hot Rodders,
It has been awhile since I have been here
But I am back and making progress with my truck now.
I gave a lot of consideration to putting that Camaro clip under my truck, and came to the only real logical conclusion.
I bit the bullet and bought a Scott's Hot Rod coil over IFS with rack and pinion power steering. The cost of doing this far outweighed all of the headaches with trying to remount and align the sheet metal.
I thank all of the "wise" members for their input!

I have done several mustang 2 and camaro subs never had a real problem. Like it was mentioned earlier MEASURE a lot. I was toying with the idea of putting a camaro sub under my wifes 57 chevy but do to measurings I found that the stering box would wind up in the radiator not a good thing. I think that one will get a vett IFS. I think for the money doing a sub is the way to go but differances are what make the world go round. If all the cars out there were the same all we'd have to look at is just one.
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
