Chevy LUV
Hi,
I just bought a new project truck this weekend, it is a 1979 Chevy LUV. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if they are actually a rare truck now, because I'm having a pretty hard time finding any information on them. It is a Mikato package with a long bed, 2 wheel drive. The truck is very close to being rust free with original paint. Anyways, back to the question. Does anyone know of anybody that sells resoration parts for these trucks, especially hoods, front bumper, or even a roof skin (i know a roof skin might be stretching it). I wont be starting any major work for at least a year (have to finish school first) but I am starting to look for parts now. If anyone has any sugestions, I would really appreciate them!
Thanks a lot!

Resurrection..
Just noticed someone looking at this OLD thread..Interesting,cos back in the early/mid 80s,I saw in an issue of Popular Hot rod[from memory],an article on building a SBC powered version, and it set the wheels in motion..These little pickups were marketed in NZ as an Isuzu KB20,but,I believe,as a Chevy LUV in Australia..We never had many come into the country,in fact,I think only government departments had them,,and as they got old and abused, they would go up for auction..Managed to get one,a 1977 model, and drove it for a year or so,while I sorted out the new running gear..It hit the street after about nine months off the road, with 300hp 350/th350 and a narrowed 9inch with 2.75 gears, new paint, interior etc..It was a real little ball of muscle, and I had lotsa fun driving it,,but learned super quick, not to go out on a wet day with a pooey attitude... Did I have fun in it??Too darn right..Scared a few people with its acceleration too...It disappeared after a year or so,and just recently was talking to the guy who became the next owner after the guy who bought it from me..In fact,he is one of Rogers[Blow by,CHR] friends..Small world..Only have one digital pic of it,see if I can find it..Micah 6:8

no limits, its in ya face isnt it??What were you running in it??I kept mine as stock appearing as I could, found the genuine tailgate, and badges that go on the fenders and grille,,keep in mind, that, not many folks in NZ knew what these were, when I built mine, let alone seeing one with a V8 in it..will have to find the pix,and take some digitals of them..Micah 6:8

We built my youngest son a '72 LUV to drive in high school. California Stepside kit, stock 455 Olds/TH400/10 1/4" narrowed Olds rear, 18" Mickeys. Looked pretty much like the first photo that no limits posted in post #5 here. Same centerlines and all. White paint though.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
