Or use a torque strap, basically something that bolts to the left side of the engine and the frame limiting how much it can twist up. You could make one at home from some scrap flat iron if you were really crafty or thrifty. I think that this is what might you might have referred to. You could just get some better mounts or take off the console and cut more space in the shifter hole to allow the shifter room too. Keep in mind that solid mounts will probably shake the car some more with a radical idle since there is less rubber to dampen the vibration. Whatever works for you. Comfort, or practicality.I'd rather go fast than worry about the gas mileage.
