make sure there's a vent in the top of the tank & that the hose or tube that comes off of it is higher then the filler neck..Donate Blood,Plasma,Platelets & sign your DONORS CARD & SAVE a LIFE

Both are equally terrifying.

The gas backs up the filler neck I ususally look for a gas nozzle that is vented (small holes) and squeeze the nozzle very easily and sometimes I am OK.
Is there any way to add supplemental tank vents??

if you look at and think about what you just said, you answered you own ? if the gas wont go into the tanks without coming back at you, then the tanks is not properly vented according to the amount of gas you can put in. probably the holes in the baffle are not big enough or no holes in the top of the baffles.Mike

I had polyethylene saddle tanks on my '30 A-bone. All I did was avoid putting the nozzle too deep in the tank, and I filled them very slowly. How long is the filler neck? Mine were only a couple of inches long, and came through the apron above the running board.
Do you have only one nozzle to fill two tanks?Jack

Sounds like your on to the root cause is there anything that can be done externally ie: running a vent tube inside the filler neck? The tanks I have are sealed units so adding holes to the baffles is not an option. Mike I really appreciate your input

I have the same short neck filler neck you had on your 30. Placing the gas nozzle on the outer edge and fueling slowly works only if the pump pressure is fairly low on my tanks

My biggest problem with the saddle tanks is that whoever designed them put the bungs in the front. If I went to half a tank, then hit the go pedal, the gas went away from the pickup . . . cough, choke, sputter.Jack

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
