    cutting and bending bumpers

     



    I want to cut down a pair of triple plated chrome bumpers for my 37 chevy truck and not having done this before ,would like some input on how to proceed. I have enclose a rough drawing of what I want.

    I can cut the bumpers with my plasa cutter, but I don't know how I can rebend them without crimping the chrome plating.

    welding bumpers will change the spring steel to a steel the will bend & not return to its former stedy state. Why not search for a smaller bumper...VW has a small blade bumper on the old bugs that can be purched new for around $30.

    Thats why I have all you smart guys answer my questions. Thanks for the imput. Looks like the easiest way is to cut the middle out and reweld. Thanks again
