Power Steeing Pump
What kind of thrust is acceptable on the shaft for a GM power steering pump. I can grab onto the pulley and pull it out slightly. I just had to replace my water pump because it had developed some play, and I don't want to have to do the power steering pump too.

Come on, go out on your GM and manhandle the pulley a bit for me and tell me whether or not it moves in and out.

Mine only moves about 1/16 of a inch. That's on the S10.
No play on the caddy but I just rebuilt that one.

Ok, mine moves a little more, but sounds like I'll be ok running it till it starts leakin'. I'd rather repair it than have to pay a tow bill and repair it.
