roll cage
How close to the roof of the car is the cage allow? And how close is to close, I am concern about when it is time to install the head liner. I'm thinking I would install the cage before all the body work and painting, so it can be painted as well, then the assembly begans.http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e44/tzamk2/

i always put the headliner in first and then fit the pipes to it as close as you can get it without pushing the head liner up. then take the head liner back out to weild the pipe in and paint. be sure you can get the liner back in though. i allways had a pipe bender so i could put the pipes anywhere i wonted to. if youve got some rules to follow you need read up on them first or if its for looks i like to hide them as much as posible. if youer buying them already cut then you dont have much choice where you put them.Mike

Dont build the cage around the headliner the cage is the most important thing. I am going to be making my own headliner to fit between my roof and cage so if you cant use your stock style headliner, you might have to think about doing the same thing. Whatever you do dont comprimise saftey/rules just so you can use a factory headliner.Do the cage the way it needs to be then tackle what needs to be done about the headliner.

Will not compromise on safety or take a chance on not being legal. I will try to put liner in first and build cage up to it. Your opinions help a lot. Thankshttp://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e44/tzamk2/

U have to weld the joints up against the liner then tho. Ouch ouch Ouch, hot burn. But you have the right idea about safety first."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

Just put a piece of thin gauge metal between the liner and the cage when you weld and you'll be fine

Havent had a chance to do a whole lot since the holidays because my 80 yr old grandma took a fall and cracked her pelvic bone, shes still in the hospital but doing better so goin up to see her every day takes alot of my time right now. I'm really itchin to get back to work on it though so I should be back to it within the next couple weeks. Puttin in tubs in is the next job.
Actually i was supposed to go up to the motor shop to give him some more cash to order my jesel drive today but i woke up to 12" of snow so couldn't go anywhere today
Z's lookin good! you got the motor in it now or is that the mock up motor?
