    Traction Bars

My friend dropped ina ZZ4 small block into his '67 Camaro, added a posi and 3.55 gears to his 10 bolt rear end. He's running a 700R4 trans. He has alot of wheel hop with this bigger engine. What type of traction bars would you guys recommend? It's a street car, so he's not wanting any elaborate ladder bars or 4-link suspension, just something to prevent the wheel hop.

    Thanks,

    Ron

Also a change in rear springs may be in order, especially if he's got the single leaf variety.

I have to go with Bob on the springs. The '67 single spring will never make him happy with that drive train combo. It should like he can do some basic fabrication. He might consider something along the lines of a fifth spring set up. This would absorb the resonant power surges caused by the traction skip. The cost is about the same as traction bars, and you can't see the setup from the street.

I had a 69 camaro with a big block! It went 11.80's on a set of multi leaf leaf springs and a set of CAL TRAC bars they have a web site they are very good. Most of the drag radial shoot out guys on leaf springs run these they work excellent for the street and strip! I would stay away from tracion bars AKA slapper bars! They are not good on the front of the spring they put a lot of pressure on it especially on a monoleaf setup! I would go with a new set of springs or maybe adding a leaf to the existing spring and go with the cal tracs or slide-a-links from comp. engineering
    good luck
