Post Oil Pressure/fuel Pump Pressure Sw.

most late model cars has a combernation oil pressure senser/fuel pressure switch installed on them that most people dont understand how they work, so if you would like to know just click on this address and learn something. i did.

you could install one of these switches on any motor and use it to cut something on, only when the motor was running. think about that a little while.

You can also use it to kill the engine if it loses oil pressure AND/OR kill the electric pumps.

Dont know if it is orientation sensitive.....when I land hard, the engine misses and I suspect that I have either relay bounce or this switch is bouncing.

you could make it kill the motor when the oil pressure dropped, but from the factory it a safety feather so the motor wont cut off. if the reg. fuel pump relay is working you can unplug this switch and it wont effect the running of the motor. sound like your main fuel pump relay may be bouncing.

Do I understand this correctly? If the fuel pump relay goes bad the fuel pump will continue to run off the oil pressure sensor because it is in an open loupe as long as you have 4lbs or more of oil pressure.

it wont be in open circuit , with pressure on it, its in closed circuit.

you missed the boat a little. no car tonight. when the motor is not running the oil pressure sensor is in open circuit, when you start the motor then the oil pressure sensor will go to closed circuit and complete the circuit so the fuel pump can run. it don't have to be dead on 4 lb. of oil pressure, but as long as you've got oil pressure. about the only way to know that the main relay is bad is the car wont start as well as it did. you have to wait for the oil pressure to build up.
