How to piecut 48 chevy hood
Is there anywhere I can get info or instructions on pie cutting a 1948 chevy hood? I looked through over 100 of my STREET ROD mags but can find nothing. I know I saw an article on it somewhere. Thanks Jim

I'll give it a try. Fiirst the more you take out of the hood front the more difficult it is. I find that !" to 1 1/2" is the max to make the transformation smooth.
You will want to keep the lower panel dikmensions the same except where it blends in w/ the hood top.
I mig weld some 4" supports between the two halfs in 6-8 places. I thnen hammer weld the 2 together using a hammer weldig method . You need the heat , hammer & dollie the shap the metal along w/a water soaked rag,.....DonDon Meyer, PhD-Mech Engr(48 GMC Trk/chopped/cab extended/caddy fins & a GM converted Rolls Royce Silver Shadow).

I want to pancake it 4 in. so this may take a little more work. I guess i'll just dive in, if I screw it up I may have to find another hood. Thanks for your info. Jim
