I have a new clutch fan but let me ask this.....I heard you can't put flex -o- lite fan blades on a clutch fan.Is this true? Is the direct drive (fan Spacer) better than a clutch? Thanks Guys for the many replies you have given me......frankie

    Re: fan

Taking the thermostat out is a mistake.
You allow the coolant to go through too fast to transfer BTU's.
Better to take your thermostat and remove the center mechanism and run just the washer (as a flow restrictor)....

Also, running an electric fan as a pusher can make the engine run warmer at speed, because you are blocking a protion of the radiator off.

If you do run an electric fan, make it a big one (3000 cfm and up)..
And run it with a circuit like this (see attached pic). With a circuit like this you have triple redundancy (a/c turns it on, temp turns it on, and you can manually turn it on)...
    Hope the info helps.

I'm gonna get a Edelbrock intake and carb in the spring. Thanks for your replies.

You might try a higher flow water pump also. I put a bigger GPM pump on mine, and heat problems disapeared. Depends on your app. but is your radiator the right size? I know you said it was new, but did you downsize it? Could be an issue if you did.

Good luck with it, let us know how it turns out.
