    Will it start????

Well, engine is full of oil, tranny has a gallon of fluid in it, rad is full of anti-freeze---ignition switch is temporarily mounted on a funny little bracket that I bolted to the one rams horn. (Yes, it is far enough out not to burn anything on the switch). I have to stick some plug wires back on, check the firing order one more time, and plug a couple of vacuum ports on the carb. One quart of gasoline is in a gallon can well back from the engine---fire extinguisher is close at hand---. Now I get to see if I put the new timing chain and sprockets on correctly, and if the Felpro one peice pan gasket really works. I never did get an exact position for the timing mark on the harmonic balancer, so will set timing by ear, vacuum gauge, and trust in a higher Power.--this part is always kinda scary---will it go???----we'll find out tomorrow.

Starting up the plant 4 the first time IS the best part of the whole project! Cuz all the rest is slow detail work that only incrementally improves the whole piece-of-art.

And new cam and lifters ? if you have those in as well, she needs to be brought up to 1500 2000 rpms to break in the new cam lobes and lifters. Run er up at these revs for around 35 minutes. It might sound like a rude shock for a newie motor butas mentioned on your cam card it's all part of running her in. Good luck and have fun.

brianrupnow, good luck with igniting. Try holding the smile back on your face, I bet you can't.

Shawn, there isn't a soul on this planet that wants to hear that baby fire up more than I do at this moment. The smile on my face will probably be so big, my lips will rip. There will be a video when it happens.

No new cam and lifters---just basically a well worn engine ,purchased out of a running daily driver---new plugs, new timing chain and sprockets, new chrome goodies and gasket set.---electric fan in car is hooked up for air, no gauges hooked up---it will only be ran long enough to know that it runs and has no major leaks, then shut down untill car is finished.

Good luck with that brian, but I would At Least reccomend an oil guage. Easy to hook up and worth their investment(about $17) ten times over. Plus they can tell you quite a lot about your motor if something goes wrong.
