Looking for gas tank 29 Ford Roadster

Looking for a gas tank that would work in a 29 Model A roadster to mount behind the seat but mounted high to leave foot space for rumble seat passengers.

It would need to be behind the seat running lengthwise under the metal body panel. Maybe drop down about 8 or 9 inches.

This would provide legroom and foot space for passengers sitting on the rumble seat.

Prefer poly but would go with steel.

If anyone has done this or knows where I can locate this tank it would be appreciated.

    Thanks

This thread went unanswered and I am replying because I basically have the same question. I talked to a Tech guy at Brookville and they said they did not have the inside tank they advertise and only have saddle tanks at present. I want to avoid saddle tanks because I have a very rough and long driveway. On the other hand Speedway offers several tanks both poly and steel as well as racing fuel cells, so take a look at the Speedway catalog:

    www.speedwaymotors.com

Still my experience with Speedway parts so far is that they are more for the experienced builder and you have to be able to adapt their parts and I am pretty much a novice "bolt-on" type guy. So I would be interested in learning what tanks others are using or choosing for behind-the-seat fuel tanks. I have a tank from a VW which I might use just because it seems to be the right size, but it has no provision for a in-tank pump being only a gravity feed tank. I would like to use a rumble seat, but there is not much room for feet with a tank in there, so maybe I will just use a trunk with a mini spare tire and a flat fuel tank with space for just one suitcase so I can live without a rumble seat but I would appreciate pictures or discussions of how others have solved this problem.

In edit mode I tried to visualize what mt.yetti said. Apparently his idea is to mount the tank above the floor under the back deck so as to leave foot room under the tank. This brings up the question of a high center of gravity since a full tank will add about 7.5 pounds/gallon and if I use a fiberglass Bebops body I wonder about cross bracing for strength under cornering even with baffeling in the tank. Thus maybe there is some sort of a compromize in height so that there is some room for feet in the rumble seat but not place the tank too high. Still if the tank is say full height but not very thick most of the time the gas will be down in the bottom half of the tank so if a custom tank is designed that is tapered toward the top and thicker at the bottom that might be optimum? I am trying to solve this for a fiberglass '29 Ford roadster with fenders but mt.yetti has a highboy so saddle tanks are not an option for him.

Thanks Don for the reply, mine is a steel body and your right in how I wanted to mount the tank. Right behind the seat up high just below the outside body panel before the rumble lid. I saw a guy that had a 29 with that tank setup that was done along time ago, he thought it came from Tanks inc, but they don't have one.

I don't want to mount the one by the back bumper for the 32 frame, I'm thinking now might have to look for a universal poly that will fit in that area.

The guy with the 29 didn't complain of any issues with the tank mounted there, and he sees plenty of gas stations with the 392 Hemi with dual quads in it.

Well if you find anything more please let me know and I'll do the same.

    Thanks

Maybe check the rci fuel cells from Summit or was it speedway?
There is a 15 gal one 30" w 12" H and 9" front to back. I was considering it to fit behind back seat in a Tudor.
