Nice interior door handles
I went over to the wreckers this evening and went on an interior door handle hunt for the roadster pickup. The handles that are available thru my hotrod aftermarket shop are priced at $198 to $249, plus 15 percent taxes. I paid $40 total for this pair, and that was with the guy at the yard removing them from the car for me. They are out of one of the old square shaped Mazda cars. Honda has nice small interior handles as well, but there were none in the black colour that I wanted. I will have to cut a hole in the metal door to the correct shape, and weld in a small offset strap to hold the single screw which attaches these handles to the door. The inner handle part which actually swings to pull the latch rod is totally supported by the "basket", which is supported by the single screw.---I will post a picture when they are installed.Old guy hot rodder

Kinda the same on the 1's from my mercedes parts car, problem is, the armrests are inquoperated into the handle, the mercedes has a chrome handle itself w/ chrome trim. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

I checked out about a hundred freakin cars to find handles that would fit into a flat upholstery panel. The ones that are incorporated into the armrests won't work in a flat panel. I have had enough 27 to 31 hotrods over the years to know that there really isn't enough comfortable knee room to allow for an armrest big enough to hold a door handle.----Chrysler minivans have the right kind of handle, but the escutcheon plate is a bit too long for my tastes.Old guy hot rodder

The MB 1's are nothing I'd use in a hotrod but, those front seats are, I have to rebuild the driver side though ( not very hard, just takes time ) as the springs are soggy. I don't know what I'm using them on though. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Thanks for the tip on the door handles, Brian. Looks like they will work fine, and no clearance issues on the knees!!! I got a bit crossed up in my roadster once, and my left knee smacked the handle, hurts today just thinking about it.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
