mODIFICATIONS TO ROADSTER PICKUP DOORS TO MOUNT SPEAKERS
Everbody has installed speakers before, and there isn't much magic involved. This was a bit different, because I didn't want to depend on the upholstery panel to support the speaker, and I wanted to keep the speaker down low enough in the door to give it some protection from rain. (yes, it does rain on roadsters).
There was no metal in the area where I wanted the speakers to go, so I used up some of the scraps of #14 ga. sheet metal that were left over from building the bed. The peices were cut to size with my trusty sabre saw, and mig welded into the doors. Now I am ready to go ahead and finish the patterns that I made earlier this week for the door panels.Old guy hot rodder

And this is a rather poor picture of the speaker mounted in the door . ($50 a pair Blaupunkt speakers), one in each door.Old guy hot rodder

Nice job. If theres a way to do something, we seem somehow to work thing out. The speakers will look really nice where you have mounted them.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Looks nice Brian. I notice that you don't have the window crank
installed is it going to clear the new door handle & speaker when you instal it? Just wondering.

30 Coupe---there are no windows in the doors. They have been cut down and capped. The car I am building is the one shown in my avatar. Roadster pickups did not come equipped with glass in the doors, and the one I am building doesn't either. The body section is made from a severely shortened and chopped model A sedan.Old guy hot rodder

looks great brianrupnow, I think that will work awesome and stay dry on those if may rain cruize days. Coming along nicely I see, where is the rest of the stereo at? Under the seat?"Sunshine, a street rod and a winding beautiful Ozarks road is truely Bliss!"

brickman---I don't actually have that part figured out yet. It will fit under the seat, but that makes it miserable to get at while driving. I am considering am aluminum panel that extends below the center of the dash, just deep enough to fit the radio in the middle, a light switch on one side, and an ignition key on the side nearest the steering column.Old guy hot rodder
