Help wiring 396
I just transplanted a 396 into my 67 el camino which originally had a 283. I was told the engine was from a 70, but I'm not exactly sure. Anyway I have replaced the original engine harness with a new one, the old one was cut up and junk. Since the new engine has a electronic ignition (coil pack on dist. cap) I can't seem to find were to plug in the wire coming of the starter. I know it goes to the coil but I ca'nt seem to find where it plugs into. There is a spot labeled Tach and Batt. I think this my be were I need to connect, if so I will need to put the correct type of plug end on my wire. Is this correct?
Sorry if this was a stupid question but it's been bugging me and I would relly like to get this engine fired. Any help/advise you my have would be appreciated.

you're correct. the wire goes into the (BAT) terminal in the distributor. you should be able to get a new plug at any parts store
we're not here for a long time, but I'm here for a good time!

Thanks for the help. I should know this stuff, just that when it's your own car and the longer you stare at it the dumber you become.
I tried rubber isolators between the frame and pump, but it made little difference. I don't mind spinning the motor over to refill the carb(s), it allows time to build oil pressure, jmho..
