    Unhappy Starter Solenoid Wires?

I am just about to fire up my 1950 Chevy Deluxe for the first time. I have run into a wiring question...the solenoid has 5 wires going to it.

    Battery
    Cig Lighter
and three to the ignition switch

the three to the switch are where my question come in. I know where two of the three attach to my solenoid, but the third is my question. The two that I know of are 8 gauge wires, one attaches to the large post (with the battery) the other attaches to the small "post" slighty above the other (they were already attached). The third wire is only about a 14 gauge and was not connected to anything. It is an original wire and it is in the loom with the other two wires and as far as I can tell it goes to the ignition switch. I am afraid to hook it up to power in case it is a ground and vise versa. Can anyone help?
