235 Engine question
My 235 only has 6.6/1 compression, I was thinking about shaving the head off a fair amount to gain more compression, if I did this, would I have to re ring the pistions to prevent blow by from the new found compression? You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Thanks, my dad had that question and so did I.I'll save raising the comp raito for another year due to prices/ time. It dosen't smoke at all now, I'd like to keep it that way. I'll probably rebuild it in a year or 2 anyway, I could do it then. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

I have a question. Someone has most likely asked already, but I missed it. Why???? If you want a 6 cylinder that runs good why not build a 292 . You should be able to find one at a very reasonable price. You can bore it out to 301C.I. And they can be made to Scream. Even in stock form it will have tons more torque than the 235.

Limited Funds, That seems to be the one thing I have had to deal with for many, many years.
Wouldn't it be nice, just once, to go first class and not worry about the dollars?
For Matt, that posibility still exist.
For me, I wouldn't know how to act. Do the best you can with what you got ,must be stamped in my brain.

I would keep the 235. You can bore them out, etc but no point. Matt, do you get that Auto Restorer? It had like 4 parts of articles in different issues on how to build a 235 with 200 HP on a tight budget. Most of the work is done to the heads and exhaust and a 2 barrel carb nothing more. And you can do it all at home too with just the porting and polishing, etc. Everyone is always talking about 300 inlines, the 292's, etc but you never see many people fixing a 235 up. I think it would be sweet to keep it the way it is now and slowly save up and in a year or two just completely rebuild the thing from the bottom end up. Cliffords is the place to go too man. They got everything basically which I am sure you already know. Keep a 235 in it. At least IMO I would.www.streamlineautocare.com
If you wan't something done right, then you have to do it yourself!
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
