Unhappy Help! Brake lights out, Turn signals.

    Hello, I am new here.

I really could use some help with my 56 Chevrolet 3100 pickup. You see the last owner tore up the electrical wires in the truck while he was trying to "fix" it.

I got the turn signals to work by attaching two wires to both sides, but the brake lights don't work at all. And when I turn on the lights, the turn signals don't work at all. I can hear the turn signal relay just stop, like it lost power when I turned on the headlights.

I have been using a smaller gauge wire to attach wires to each other temporarily, could this affect the relay?

Did the 1956 Chevrolet pickup come with backup lights? I have never seen one with backup lights. Do I have to install those?

Help! In a heap of wires!

    Thanks alot!

    I really appreciate this...thank you.

Although I am no good at looking a these diagrams I'll look at it closely.

Looking at schematics and trying to find the blasted wires. I guess they all lead somewhere.

    Thanks again.

    Chevy guy
