Rearend for a chevelle
Hey thanks to all the guys who have helped out with my car, but now i have anothewr question. I have a 1972 chevelle and it has the fac. rearend which is a 10 bolt (don't know the gears), but i'm looking for a 12 bolt rearend which i could put some nice gears and make it posi. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me which cars and years i could use a rearend from. And if yall have any gear suggestions i would gadly apperciate the advice. Thanks guys

I would think that any big block Chevelle from that era would have a 12 bolt that would work. Probably the best compromise between power and economy would be a 3.73 gear.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

go to richmondgears.com and they got a calculator there you can use to determine what gears will work with what rpm you want.

If you can find a 12 bolt out of a 66 or 67 , they are 1 inch narrower but will bolt right in. You can get more tire and wheel under it, I did this with my 70 with a 406=4 speed and it worked well.
