Stone guard for Exposed Radiator
I asked this question but think it was sent to outer space because I can't find it.
I have a 1929 Buick Street Rod with an exposed radiator in front. I had a new radiator built that the core is shorter on than the old one. The top and bottom tanks can be seen from the front.
Anyone know of where I can get a stone guard that would hide the radiator or have suggestions as to what I can make one out of? I know that some of the later 29s and early 30s had stone guards. Seems that there should be something I can make one out of.
Thanks, EdEd in Jeffersonville, IN

Just a long shot since I don't know the dimensions of the Buick radiator shell, but maybe you can adapt a stone guard for a '29 Ford. You could probably make your own screen out of something from a hardware store but chroming a screen looks like a lot of work to pre-polish it. The stainless steel screen from Speedway (Part No. 911-22151) is $120 and might be adaptable? Otherwise I have no idea where to get stainless steel screen. Maybe you can make your own outer edge from angle iron or bent flat stock and then cut the Model-A stainless screening to fit the Buick shape?

If you are a semi talented fabricator, you can build your own---see my posts about building a 32 Ford grill insert.---If not, find a place that builds wood stoves and fireplaces--they can point you towards their supplier for ornamental fireplace screen material---this stuff can be cut to size and chromed, or painted flat black.Old guy hot rodder
