    Rear-ends

Where can I read up on rear-end rebuilding and repair? Online sources, perferrably. I am little short changed due to saving up for car parts. I'm not rebuilding mine, I am just looking to expand my wealth of knowledge. Thanks in advance.

    GIJoe4500,
Best bet is to look around here first off. Go to the search option at the top of this page and do a search for rear end. Also go to google to better yet www.dogpile.com and do a search for differential info, etc. There is a site called something like hot it works or www.howitworks.com I dont know the exact name, maybe that's it but someone on here should let you know.
Dogpile.com is a good search engine because it will do a wide variety of search engines such as, it will come up with finds from google, ask.com, it's own dog pile.com, yahoo, etc. Hard to explain but once you go there and look around you will see what I am talking about here.
There are very smart geezers here that can help you out too so if you ever have any questions then ask away... Just make sure you don't ask a question and get it answered and never come back to say thanks or nothing. (it happens all the time).

Welcom to CHR, good luck and stick around!

I've read up on how differentials work on www.howstuffworks.com. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any rebuild guides or walk-throughs that I could read. It doesn't really have to pertain to any specific car, per se. I just want to see what is involved in the process, and what types of tools and parts are need.

And thanks for your quick response.

Oh alright, well your ahead of me then heh. I was off by one word. I am not too sure on the whole rebuild thing. I never thought about it, I would just tear one apart if it were me. Someone will post a reply here sometime today I am sure.

Good info GIJoe4500! I will have to read up on all of that. I read almost all of the first link and already learned a bit! You know, a guy up the street and my grandfather was telling me that a good way to earn money on the side is learn ONE trade and then expand. Like he said to try and learn about transmissions as much as I could and start doing small odd jobs on them and keep advancing and then take on rear ends or visa versa. If you ask me, that doesn't sound like a bad idea! I learned a lot about rear ends this year and same with trannys but there is still a ton of stuff that I was reading on that site that you posted that I still never heard of or know.

A guy on another forum gave me even more links to follow.

Hope these help you as well. These all are, for the most part, exactly what I was looking for.
