push fan for 34 ford
I have a question about running a push fan on my 34 Ford because of so many clearance issues trying to run a pull type. I am considering a 16" Spal push fan with 2360 cfm. Is this going to keep my motor cool? I hope there's someone out there who has had some success with a push fan. If so, is this the right fan for me? If not, what kind of push fan are you using?

I couldn't tell you for sure or not. But, what I do know is that the cooling efficiency is only 80% of what you would get if you were to use it as a puller. That is probably because air can't really blow on the motor that well, but more or less just pushes air through the radiator core. If this is your only option, well then it is your only option. I wouldn't hesitate to use a pusher if I had space issues. What I would do, is look for a large CFM rating and just use a thermostatically controlled switch. Have a look at the dual Flexalite fans.Last edited by 53fatfndr; 06-13-2005 at 02:03 PM.

34 Blues I had the same problem with space and went with dual flex-a-lite fans that put out 3500 CFM and my 37 runs at 180 degrees all the time. When I'm stopped for a period, I have my fan set to come on at 200 degrees and in about 30 seconds it shuts off after reaching 180 degrees. Works great but if I had the room, I'd go with a puller fan.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

34Blues I don't as I put it on about 3 years ago. You can call summit as they carry that brand or type in Flex-o-lite on your computer. They even come with there own radiator with the fans built in them.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

I have the same clearance issues. I just got the flex a lite black magic 180.
It is 3300 cfm and has the thermostat and everything.
I don't yet have it so I can't tell you if it works, but it was the highest cfm I could get that fit my core.

tcodi, thanks for the input. I looked up the 180 black magic and it shows to be a pull fan, not a push fan. For know its lookin like I may go to the 398 Syclone. Anyone have any experience with the Syclone?

I'm no expert, but if the other fans on the market are anything like Permacool fans, all you have to do is flip the fan blade and or reverse the wiring and it will turn a puller into a pusher, at least that is what their directions said for my 16" I got last summer. However, I would make sure first, but I can't see how it couldn't be done with any other.
