are you looking for factory shippng weights, NHRA weights, or actual weight with the fluids, etc.? Also, the weights with a 6 cyl motor is different than a V8.....so how close do you need?

Robot, Thanks,I tried to tell Mike over the phone this afternoon that a 68 Lemans proberly weighed a little more than a 57 chevy 4dr. He thought I was nuts . I have a book that I paid about 35 bucks for 20 years ago. For a minute I thought we had the same book. My lemans weights were identical to yours and the 57 weights were within 5 lbs.

Kenny, my book list a 55 Bel Air 4dr.S.W. at 3385 and a 55 Nomad wagon at 3300.

By the time you add a few options ( back then there were not that many)and a tank of gas you could add a couple hundred pounds to each car.

For the most part, back in the 50s, 60s and 70s each new model year was a little heavier than the year before. They were trying to out do last years model. All that Glitz adds weight.

A 75 Cadillac Fleetwood 4 dr. Limousine 9 pass. had a shipping weight of 5862lbs. Dont know if thats a record but its pretty stout

One of the heaviest fast cars was a 66 Olds Toronado Deluxe, 4779 lbs. Shipping weight-425 c.i. 375 hp. front wheel drive.
Those lead sledds would suprise lots of people. They would hook up well and and pull like gangbusters.

The 75 plymouth Grand Fury Group, All 11 of them were heavy loads. Anywhere from 4205 to 4930 lbs.shipping weight.

Some more bits of useless information.

i just talked to a guy that has a 1957 chev, conv. stock, weighted it at the truck stop and the weight was 4900 plus. take 200 off for gas, 200 off for the driver and another 100 for dirt in the chassis and thats 4400. thats a long way from 3400.

riverhorse do you really belive a 1975 ply. is 4900 and a 1957 chev is 3350? i dont

here is the NHRA factor page. Used to be the NHRA published the factory shipping weight and then adjusted the horsepower for an engine. Now, they adjust the "factor" wiich is the shipping weight divided by the horsepower. So now you cannot multiply back to find the shipping weight....cause they fiddled with the numbers. But it does show some relative positions for a car line.....like the difference between a 150 and a 210 and a BelAir

Title weights vary by state. The state adds weight to allow for fluids and people......

Surely someone used to race a stocker 57 in NHRA who knows the weight OR someone has one.

What makes it heavy? SMC, government mandated safety and emissions stuff, amenities like A/C, power tissue dispenser, etc. It's a miracle that it is as light as it is.
